WHO IS TEXAS SPEECH MOM?
I AM…. a mom to a busy little toddler.
I AM…. a pediatric Speech Language Pathologist.
I AM…. a lover of making my home wherever my family is.
The thing is, I’m not even “Texan”. I grew up all over the world going to different American schools (and threatening to run away every time my parents told me about the next move)! One thing that has always stayed the same is that I have made my “home” wherever my loved ones are. Texas just happens to be that place and I love everything about our life in this big, loud, over the top state! My heart and roots have been planted here.
I married the cute guy that sat behind me in class freshman year at Texas Christian University and the rest is history!
Fast forward many.. many.. many years and I had my first baby! She was drama from the beginning with the 2 years of infertility struggles to waiting until 41 weeks to make her grand appearance (in the middle of Texas summer heat… brutal). She is rowdy, loud, and inquisitive. Watching her little mind grow has renewed my obsession with child development!
WHY WAS TEXAS SPEECH MOM CREATED?
Several years ago I stumbled upon the speech blog community and was fascinated by all of their creativity. I found myself getting lost in the paperwork and was losing that creative drive that I used to have.
I started to make my own materials and come up with fun and interactive ways to make speech and language development fun! The challenge of figuring out different ways to help a child expand their speech and language skills was almost addictive to me!
Over the past couple years, I am constantly getting asked by parents of the kids that I work with for things to do at home. Friends have also started to ask questions about developmental milestones and activities to help improve those skills.
This is when I realized that there just wasn’t a ton of information out there on how to make speech and language development fun for all ages…. AT HOME.
WHAT IS THE GOAL OF TEXAS SPEECH MOM?
My goal is to create a place where I can share different ways to engage your child while improving their speech and language skills!
I also absolutely love making printable resources and activities so please check out my “store”. Every product is meant to be useful for parents, speech pathologists, and anyone that wants to work with children!
If you are interested in subscribing to my newsletter I will share several books, activities, and information every month.
I am so happy you have stopped by and welcome to my long time dream of Texas Speech Mom!
